Ok, so technically this was not our real engagement shoot-that happened five years ago. But today I get to share with you some mock engagement photos we took a few weeks ago with the wonderful photographer, Christine Skari. She is an absolute doll, so warm and cheerful to be around she made the shoot so fun and full of energy. A few months back she asked if Chris and I would be her ‘models’ for the day as she mentored a fellow photographer, Tracy, on how to get great engagement photos. After seeing Christine’s gorgeous photography I didn’t even hesitate to say yes. Not only did we great photos of the two of us, but we learned a lot of good tips for how to set-up the perfect shot and get genuine smiles and natural candids.
These are the first professional photos we’ve had as a couple since our wedding almost four years ago. I have tons of photos of just me for fashion posts, but Chris is always behind the camera on those so it’s hard to get really good photos of us together. This was the perfect opportunity to give our photo frames a face lift with new pictures and memories. I was so excited with how these photos turned out- from the dreamy Palos Verdes location to that gorgeous bouquet and flower crown. Absolutely perfect!
Crystal and Kristina, the hair and makeup team, were so much fun to get ready with before hand. Chris said my makeup has never looked better (completely raising the bar for any future blog shoots lol). And when Kristina showed me a picture of the back of my hair, I thought she was showing me a photo on Pinterest! I didn’t even realize it was actually me! Can they just do my hair and makeup everyday please?! Seriously, these girls are amazing at what they do.
Dreamy Engagement Photos
Everyone calls the first year of marriage ‘the honeymoon’ stage. Those months when you are still on your best behavior, little to no fighting, not as much responsibility, etc. Looking at our wedding photos, there is no doubt that I absolutely loved that time in our marriage, but I would argue that I love this stage of our marriage even more. We’ve grown up, matured, and have learned how to put one another’s needs before our own. I think each year we learn a little more of what makes the other person excel, how to set each other up for success, and what buttons not to press lol. We’re just overall super comfortable with each other and in sync. Of course we had versions of these traits when we got married, which is why we got married in the first place lol but the depth and strength of these characteristics and our relationship itself has grown a lot in the past four years. I feel like this is truly the ‘honeymoon stage.’ This guy is literally my best friend in life, and I can’t wait for 5o+ more years together. 😀
I am so thankful for my husband and this life we get to live together. Ok, done with the sappy talk 😉
