For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated by the elegant beauty of butterflies. They have an effortless grace and intricacy that never ceases to amaze me. When I was in kindergarten, our class performed a little musical about God’s Creation of the world and I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out I could play a butterfly. My lovely artist of a mom hand painted me a pair of wings, which is actually very fitting for how natural butterflies appear as well- delicately hand painted. If you can’t already tell, I really love butterflies. 😉
It was no surprise that the moment I discovered the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, I had two tickets booked for the very next weekend. It’s been years since I’ve been to a butterfly garden, and even though I’m now a full grown adult, I can’t deny how much I loved it!
It was amazing to see hundreds of gorgeous butterflies, each one unique in it’s color and design, fluttering all around you. Housing no less than 30 different species from around the country, the pavilion can easily feel like a scene straight out of the movie Avatar.
There were a few times that a butterfly landed right on our head or shoulders, but unfortunately we were too slow to snap a picture of it. Apparently we smell pretty sweet 🙂
Long Beach Flea Market
Have you ever visited the Long Beach Flea Market?
Even though he didn’t have any boys, my dad still got to do all the fun stuff with my sister and I as kids. We loved to play catch in the back yard, hit golf balls into the woods, cheer on the Detroit Tigers at baseball games, build snow forts, and eat lots of pizza.
His unending generosity to our whole family, not to mention my friends and pretty much anyone we know, is truly inspiring. It’s an amazing character trait that I know he got from my Grandpa George. Together they are the most polite and giving duo in the world! He’s always provided above and beyond for the family in so many ways, and I don’t think we can ever thank you enough for all your hard work and long hours.
One of my favorite things about my parents is they aren’t afraid to be silly and laugh at themselves. Laughter was always a huge part of our family growing up. I remember when I was younger, if I was able to make my parents genuinely laugh….not just a polite laugh, but a true, hearty laugh… I felt so accomplished!
Last but not least, my dad is always encouraging me to do what I love and to strive for great things. And like any good dad he lets me know that I’m great at something not just by his words, but through his actions. Like letting me move cross-country to branch out on my own and study fashion, even if that meant we were thousands of miles apart.
Whether he’s rocking out on the keyboard, falling asleep during a movie, letting me beat him in a game of chess, or making up silly games to entertain us (sock basketball anyone?), he is seriously awesome.
So I just wanted to say…….
I love going on trips with Chris because no matter where we are, it’s as if we have a piece of home that’s always with us. I could be in Cali, Florida, Europe, or Timbuktu and still be happy as a clam if this guy is by my side. I love that he is kind and loving towards my family as well. I’ll never stop being in awe of how blessed I am to have him in my life, let alone call him my husband. Ok I’m done with all the mushy talk, I promise! 😉
This is a shout-out to my favorite wedding vendor, Curtis Nemetz Videography. Not only is it great to have this amazing momento from the biggest day of our lives, but to have such a GREAT video is beyond what I could have ever imagined. He captured the day perfectly, and we are so grateful for it!
As soon as we met Curtis, he put us right at ease and it felt like hanging out with an old friend. My husband’s whole family is Romanian, and come to find out Curtis and his wife have traveled many times to Romania on missions trips!
Not to mention that he finished the highlight reel above in only 3 days after our wedding!! Talk about a great surprise on our honeymoon! Everything on your wedding day flies by so fast, it was really nice to get a recap of the day so soon! Getting to see all the months of planning and prep work come together in the form of a perfectly captured video while sipping on champagne in the Maldives….yea I’m pretty sure that’s about as good as it gets.
If you are in the midst of wedding planning, I can’t recommend enough how great videography of your day is. Do your research, make sure you interview with the head videographer, and enjoy your forever keepsake!
Last weekend I had the privilege to puddle jump over to Vegas for a long, relaxing weekend. I’m definitely no stranger to this city, but this last trip was one for the books!
Why is that you may ask? Well, let’s look at the roster: Some of my best friends from Michigan, a first-timer, my dad and sister from the east coast, and my brother-in-law’s bachelor party also happened to fall on the same weekend. I’m pretty sure that all adds up to an epic weekend.
