GREY WINTER COAT
Hey guys! I’m getting a late start to the New Year over here as we settle into our new lives in North Carolina. It still seems like we are just on a long vacation, not that we’ve actually moved! I have so many outfits backlogged that I want to post before the weather warms back up and before we know it, it’s spring. We’re also on Whole30 right now so most of my time has been spent in the kitchen cooking up a storm. I love showing my family all our favorite recipes and trying new ones every week too. After four rounds of Whole30 over the years, I’m still so amazed at all the fun things you can make that definitely do not feel like you’re even on a ‘diet’ of any sort. Our newest favorites are Sesame Chicken Lettuce Wraps (from THIS recipe book) and Butter Skillet Chicken (found in THIS recipe book).
Last weekend, Chris and I were able to snap a few photos while we were out running errands. The wind was so strong, there were actual tears running down my face! For every shot posted here, there are five more like it with my hair flying out of control in every direction imaginable. My family keeps saying how unusual the weather has been here- colder, with more rain than average for this time of year. It’s funny because Chris and I actually love it- we never had true seasons in California so we love being able to dress in layers and feel warm and cozy instead of sweating by 10am every day lol. I’m sure we’ll miss the warmth soon enough and the novelty of the chilly weather will pass, but for now, it’s been a refreshing change of pace. For me, it’s been great to be able to mix and match scarves, coats, and boots to create different outfits I wouldn’t have been able to wear in California. 🙂
I spotted this coat at Nordstrom a few weeks before Christmas when I was checking out at the cashier counter, and fell in love with it. I’ve been on the lookout for something like this for almost a year now, and was so happy I finally found the right color and style I had been looking for all this time. The brand is called Something Navy, and the designer behind it started as a fashion blogger (oh to dream!). I bought a size medium and the fit was perfect on me. I can easily wear sweaters underneath and the actual coat is very cozy and warm. A great staple to add to your closet that will wear well into spring.
It’s been so long since my last blog post, I really had no idea that I chose almost the same jeans and the exact pair of shoes I wore in my last post- ha! I guess that’s one way to stay consistent right? lol These Madewell jeans are so comfortable and flattering, I have 3 pairs now in different washes. I’ve been rotating between the three and will probably donate or giveaway my other brands because I never wear them anymore! I have two pairs of skinny fit with button-fly and this pair of skinny straight with the button fly. I actually bought this fit on accident because I just grabbed them in store assuming they were the same fit as my other two pairs. After trying them on at home, I love them even more than the traditional ‘skinny’ fit! More flattering on my body type, they are slimming without looking too tight or small like some true skinnies can be on me.
