Last weekend Chris and I headed north for a weekend trip to Santa Barbara. I visited here on a work trip almost 7 years ago, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to finally get back here! We are trying to be better about exploring this awesome state we live in, so weekends are almost always an adventure or we are trying something new. I was happy that we had some cooler temperatures this past weekend so we could actually enjoy our time outdoors. Don’t get me wrong, it was still hot enough to get some McConnell’s ice cream. 😉 We had planned on getting there bright and early the first day, but opted to sleep in and have a lazy morning instead. Sometimes being an adult and choosing to sleep in is just so amazing lol I remember dreaming about days like that when my alarm would go off at 6am bright and early to start getting ready for school.
Adventures in Santa Barbara
The drive up to Santa Barbara is so pretty on PCH. If my car had cleaner windows, I would have been snapping pics left and right! (Don’t judge me, I finally washed the car yesterday! lol) We didn’t even realize it, but we ended up visiting on a weekend that the area was having a huge parade with food, confetti, and costumes. We missed the actual parade, which was kind of a good thing since we weren’t really in the mood for tons of crowds. The streets were still covered in confetti though, which I of course loved! (You may have seen that on my Instagram Story last week!)
We brought Bella with us this trip and it was so funny how we could barely get 5 feet without someone asking to pet her or wondering what breed she is. Of course, she was soaking up all the extra attention- such a ham- but it was pretty cute! It kind of makes me want to get another pup….;)
Let’s talk about this dreamy floral skirt. You guys, I am literally obsessed with this skirt. It has a silky chiffon hand-feel that is super lightweight, breezy, and soft to the touch which also makes it drape really nicely. There is an extra layer of fabric to line the dress which keeps it from being see-though. The watercolor floral pattern is so pretty, I can’t get enough of it. I’ve worn this about 3 times in the last week alone! (Don’t judge me guys, its just so cute and easy to wear!) The double slits in the front make it incredible easy to walk in, and the higher waistline makes it crop-top friendly. I had mine taken in a little bit at the waist because I like to cover my belly button when I wear crop tops. The packaging from Avenle was adorable as well- almost too pretty to open!
Avenle has so many beautiful pieces that are both fashionable and classic. I love all the feminine details, the cute patterns, and the chic silhouettes that really bring their designs to life. You guys have to check out more of their clothes, you will love them! You’ll also be seeing more of them next week here on the blog. 😀
I’ve also been on the hunt for a gorgeous white statement necklace, and finally found what I was looking for at Happiness Boutique. They have tons of unique jewelry options, it’s so hard to choose a favorite. The necklace I’m wearing here comes with earrings as well, which you’ll see in a post next week! The website also offers a customer reward program that gives you points for every purchase that you can cash in for more lovely items! Read more about how to get points by sharing your style photos on social media, etc. here. They also offer free shipping, which is a huuuuge plus, being that the company is stationed in Berlin.
The company itself is all about empowering women and spreading joy throughout the world. Everyone is so positive and truly loves their job, it’s contagious! Scroll to the end of this post to get my discount code for your next order!
I had the most fun exploring all the cute side streets that branch off of the crowded State Street. They had more unique shops and restaurants than the main street, and we were able to find a cute secluded spot to snap some outfit photos. The architecture on some of the buildings in Santa Barbara is just so gorgeous. Some have bright blue doors, there is greenery everywhere, and romantic lights are strung about.
