Today I’m decorating with succulents in an effort to spruce up our back patio. I bought these adorable mini versions from Lowe’s where they had a huge variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. It was way too easy to fill up my cart about twenty of these beauties, and I only ended up using about half of what I bought for this project. They are all so unique and beautiful, it was hard to put any of them back! I suppose that just leaves room for more gardening projects down the road!
Decorating with Succulents
It took me some time to get on board with the succulent trend. I originally associated them with unkept places and cluttered spaces. Thanks to the magic of Pinterest and Instagram, I’ve been seeing them all over the home decor world with clean and crisp decor themes. Needless to say, they finally won me over! Since succulents are supposedly super easy to maintain, I thought I would try them out on our patio since my thumb has been anything but green lately. The only plant that is still alive at our house is the one I put on our guest patio and totally forgot about for a few months- go figure!
This off-white vase is from Home Goods, and I originally bought it to hold all those roses Chris bought me for my birthday (see more of those here). Since we don’t normally have dozens and dozens of flowers on a normal basis, I decided to put that large pot to good use and try my hand at decorating with succulents. Another huge bonus of these low maintenance plants is that they are drought resistant- something us Californians desperately need!
Let me know what you guys think! Are you a fan of succulents, yay or nay?!
