Today’s post is all about getting all dolled up! Date Night Style is one of my favorite things to talk about because it’s the best excuse to get completely glam from head to toe. Bonus points for this photoshoot have a million plus garden roses- my absolute favorite flowers in the whole world. These were in my wedding bouquet, as well as in a beautiful set-up when Chris proposed to me in Florida. This year he surprised me with a million-ok maybe not a million, but it seemed pretty close- roses for my birthday. I didn’t even use half of the flowers for the pictures! Did I mention how much I love my husband yet? Sigh….
Date Night Style
Since this particular date night was actually for my birthday, I wanted something classic (little black dress with a high neckline) with a little bit of edge (open lace detailing on the front). Ok so that’s a lot of edge! Although it was a little short for my liking-I tend to have that problem a lot (shout-out to all the tall girls out there!) Sometimes I’ll add an extra layer of fabric or lace, and other times I’m on a time crunch and just have to embrace it! lol
I got this dress awhile ago from a clothing swap with a few of my closest girlfriends. It was a great way to recycle our old clothes and give our closets a fresh facelift. Plus, I don’t know about you guys but sometimes I have trouble letting go of things I don’t really wear anymore but really loved at one point in time. It’s somehow easier to see these items go to your friends rather than trying to sell them at a consignment store. Another great option is to donate your extra clothes to your church or when all else fails your nearest Goodwill.
For my hair I wanted something between fancy and carefree, which resulted in this braided messy up-do. I basically made random braids all over my head and then started twisting them together and pinning them up with bobby pins. The whole process took about 20 minutes, which isn’t too bad for a fancy night out. Let me know if you guys would like to see more hairstyles like this!
